Since its founding in 2003, the Human Systems Dynamics Institute has set conditions to nurture a field of theory and practice. Today, over 1,000 HSD Professional Associates and thousands of others engage in using and expanding the HSD Praxis. With the dawning of 2025, the HSD Community will transcend the bounds of the Institute and emerge into a global community of learning, teaching, dialogue, and practice of transformation. In this workshop, Glenda Eoyang explores infrastructure, principles, and practices that will sustain HSD into our ever-evolving future.
Royce explores a choice we can each make to reach across today’s open conflict and discourse that is devolving into shouting matches or silent withdrawal. She says there is an alternate path.

Radical Rules for Schools provides a path for seeing, understanding, and influencing the dynamics that shape patterns of generative teaching and learning. Using the principles of human systems dynamics, this practical book helps build adaptive capacity for individuals and groups. The rules change behaviors, and the behaviors transform patterns as educators adapt to the challenges and changes they face today. The authors recommend a short list of simpleyet radicalrules to guide decision making and action to set conditions for generative teaching and learning for students, faculty, administrators, boards, and families.

You live and work in turbulent times. You face wide-ranging change in many areas. Increasing contact with diverse individuals brings new perspectives. Decisions grow more difficult. Underlying dynamics create massive interdependencies. Almost every challenge emerges from multiple possible causes. In all parts of your life, you recognize a swirl of uncertainty. The organizations where you work, play, and worship experience uncertainty of membership, funding, and focus.
