Your Narrative is the Story of Your Life: Make it robust and purposeful!

Your narrative—the stories you tell about your world and your life—represent your experience of the world. They frame your expectations and assumptions. They motivate and inform action in all areas of your life. But in the unpredictability and turbulence in the spring and summer of 2020, with its social, political, economic, and relational upheaval, our old narratives no longer are enough—not for individuals and not for groups.

Your life today is highly complex! And narrative creates the “map” you use to navigate that complexity. Sometimes, your narrative locks you into patterns that belong to the past more than to an emerging future. (The same can be true about the narrative shared by your team, organization, or community.) On the other hand, powerful narrative that explores the complexity you face can inform your next wise action. It can inspire new perspectives and innovative responses. It can motivate you to move beyond where you stand today.

HSD can help you expand your stories to build a rich tapestry of narrative that explains your world and informs your next wise action. Learn to leverage the complexity in the challenges and successes that threaten to overwhelm you every day. This AA Lab invites you weave your own stories into a narrative that reflects your unique and engaging complex tapestry—and then provides you with tools and perspectives to do that.

In this Lab, you will:

  • See and understand the complexity in your experience
  • Use that understanding to create powerful narratives that can inform, inspire, and motivate
  • Weave your stories together to leverage the complexity to inform future action
  • Use your complex narrative to help yourself and others navigate your surprising and uncertain world
